
Getting the Heat Right for Husky HyPET Systems
When you’re running high-speed PET blowing, you run into a frustrating problem. It’s not about how much heat you can throw at the preform—it’s about where that heat actually goes. Too often, you end up scorching the surface while the thickest parts of the plastic stay cold. It’s a headache. That’s why we built our SBO-compatible lamps. They’re designed specifically for the kind of aggressive pace you see on Husky HyPET lines. The trick to deeper heat We spent a lot of time messing with the quartz envelope and the halogen gas pressure. Why? Because we wanted to shift the infrared light to a wavelength that PET actually likes to absorb. It stops that annoying “skin effect.” You know the one—where the outside is soft and gooey, but the core is still stubborn and cold. With these, the heat actually sinks in. The gear These are simple drop-in replacements. We didn’t want you spending your weekend rewiring your power rails, so we matched the footprint and electrical load of the OEM SBO lamps exactly. A few things to know: ***Power:**We spec’d these for high-density output. More wattage means shorter heating cycles. When your line is flying, every millisecond counts. ***The Fit:**Depending on how old your machine is, we use R7s or Sk15 bases. They snap in tight, so you don’t have to worry about arcing at the terminals. ***The Quartz:**We use high-purity fused quartz. It’s tough. It can handle 24/7 shifts at peak temps without breaking down or getting cloudy. One thing to watch out for Here’s the catch: these lamps push a lot of energy into the preform. Because of that, your oven’s cooling blowers need to be on their game. If your airflow is a bit sluggish, all that extra radiant heat can start baking your oven chassis or frying your sensors. Just make sure your fans are humming along properly. Whether you’re running Sidel or Husky setups, these just work.
