Getting Your Sidel SBO 20 Series 2 Back Up to Speed
Keeping the heat steady in PET blow molding is a pain. You need lamps that hit the right wavelength to get the job done, but you don’t want to be climbing into the oven to replace burnt-out bulbs every few hundred hours. That’s why we built our infrared lamps to fit the Sidel SBO 20 Series 2 perfectly. No guesswork, no weird gaps—just a part that fits. Let’s talk power. Sidel machines are beasts. They need a ton of heat density to soften those preforms fast. We’ve spec’d our lamps for high-voltage setups, usually 230V or 400V, to match whatever your oven is pulling. We tweaked the tungsten filament density so you get that rapid heat-up without the struggle. Just a heads-up: make sure your power controllers are actually calibrated for these loads. If you push too much wattage without enough cooling, you’re just asking for the lamps to pop early. The build quality We use high-purity quartz glass. Why? Because cheap glass bows when it gets screaming hot. Ours stays straight. We also stuck with standard R7s or SK15 connectors. We did this on purpose. You shouldn’t have to rewire your sockets or mess around with adapters just to get a new lamp in. Plus, some of our versions have a special coating. It pushes the energy straight into the PET material instead of just heating up the oven walls. It’s smarter, not harder. Putting them to work These are direct replacements for the OEM parts. They’re built for the grind—the constant cycling, the heat, the pressure. Since we used a standard length and pin setup, they’ll slide into about 95% of the blowing equipment you’ll find globally. One last thing. Check your cooling fans. If they’re clogged with dust, these lamps are going to run way too hot and die young. Keep the airflow clear, and these tubes will last you a long time.
