
On a Sidel SBO 10 line, uneven preform heating shows up fast. Thin walls. PET haze. And you’re staring at a growing pile of rejects before the blow station. More often than not, the root cause is an aging lamp that can’t hold the thermal profile anymore. We run a replacement lamp that brings the heating tunnel back to its original behavior.
What matters, technically
We match the OEM’s power density and geometry so the lamp drops in and performs exactly as intended. The emitter is tuned for PET absorption, putting predictable energy into the preform wall during preform heating. The lamp’s thermal profile is controlled to keep the heating curve stable, so the preform surface and core hit the right temperature spread. We spec the correct voltage, wattage, and the R7s connector interface to fit the SBO 10 reflector and wiring—no modification needed.
Why it works on the floor
With this lamp, you get repeatable heat distribution across the heating tunnel again. That means fewer temperature swings, better stretch consistency, and fewer pinholes and brittle spots after stretch blow molding. You also stretch the run time between changes, which cuts downtime and keeps OEE steady. Energy use stays close to baseline because the lamp’s power matching prevents over-driving the zone.
A few practical notes
Installation is straightforward, but reflector cleanliness and alignment still matter. If the reflector is oxidized or mis-aimed, the heat map drifts—even with a new lamp. And verify the zone controller’s calibration after replacement. An out-of-spec controller will mask lamp performance and drive scrap.
