
Why Your Bathroom Heater is Actually a Mold-Fighter
Most people buy an IP65 bathroom heater because they’re tired of shivering the second they step out of the shower. I get it. But there’s something happening behind the scenes that’s way more useful than just staying warm.
Getting rid of the damp
We use shortwave infrared (SWIR) in these units. Now, that sounds like a textbook, but here is how it actually works: instead of just warming up the air in the room, this heat hits your walls and ceiling directly. It creates a quick jump in temperature right on the surface. When those walls get warm, any standing water or steam just… vanishes. It evaporates almost instantly. Mold loves a cold, damp corner to move into. By keeping those surfaces dry and warm, you’re basically making your bathroom a place where mold can’t survive. It’s a simple way to keep the room dry without thinking about it.
Keeping the electronics safe
Water and electricity are a nightmare together. That’s why we use IP65-rated seals. It basically means the steam and those accidental splashes stay far away from the circuitry. The housing has to be tough, too. Those quartz tubes get hot—really hot—and the casing needs to handle that expansion without cracking or leaking. We use high-wattage halogen lamps to get that punch of heat. There’s no waiting around for a coil to warm up. You flip the switch, and you feel it immediately.
A few things to keep in mind
Nothing is perfect. That kind of instant heat takes a lot of power. If you’re putting one of these into an old house, please check your wiring first. If the wires are too thin for the load, they’ll overheat, and that’s a problem you don’t want. Also, these lamps are bright. Like, really bright. If the reflector is angled wrong, it can feel like a spotlight in your eyes. We spend a lot of time balancing the beam so the heat hits the walls and the ceiling, not your face while you’re brushing your teeth.
