One minute things are fine, and the next, you’re dealing with weird wall thickness or that annoying pearlescence in the plastic. Usually, the culprit is the infrared lamps. They just wear out. But you don’t need to drop a fortune on a whole new machine to fix it. Sometimes, just swapping in some precision-spec’d tubes is all it takes to get your cycle times back where they belong. The nitty-gritty on power The Nissei ASB 70DP uses short-wave IR lamps to blast heat into those PET preforms fast. We make our replacements to hit the exact voltage and wattage the original factory specs called for. Now, if you’re trying to push for more output, you’re looking at higher wattage per millimeter. That means faster ramp-up times. Great, right? Well, mostly. Just keep in mind that more power puts more stress on your electrical contacts. Do yourself a favor: check your wiring. Make sure those terminals are tight. If they’re loose, you’ll get arcing, and you’ll end up burning out the socket. Not a fun way to spend a Tuesday. Why the materials actually matter We use high-purity quartz glass because it can handle the “shock” of heating up and cooling down rapidly without cracking. Inside the tube, there’s a halogen cycle. This stops the tungsten filament from evaporating and clouding up the glass. When the glass gets cloudy, your heating efficiency tanks. It’s like trying to tan through a dirty window. And don’t worry about the installation. We use standard industrial connectors (usually R7s or Sk15). They just slide right in. No rewiring the oven, no swearing at the manual. The trade-off (because there’s always one) Tightening that thermal window can definitely bump up your bottles-per-hour. But here’s the thing: more heat in the oven means more heat in your shop. If you go with higher-wattage tubes to boost production, you’ve got to make sure your cooling blowers are actually working. Give them a good cleaning. If your ventilation is clogged, the heat will just soak into the machine and warp your oven reflectors. That’s a quick way to kill all the efficiency gains you just paid for. Keep it cool, and you’re golden.
