
Getting the Heat Right in Your Husky HyPET System
If you’ve spent any time around high-speed PET blowing, you know the struggle. You’re chasing that perfect thermal profile, but the preform just isn’t cooperating. One minute you’ve got thin spots, the next you’re seeing that annoying pearlescence in the finished bottle. It usually comes down to one thing: the heat isn’t actually getting into the plastic. It’s just sitting on the surface. That’s why we built our replacement lamps for SMF blower ovens. We wanted to fix that penetration problem specifically for Husky HyPET setups. The trick to deeper heat Here’s the thing about standard lamps—they often hit the surface way too hard. You end up scorching the outside while the inside stays too cool. We changed the spectral output. By shifting the infrared emission to a different wavelength, the heat actually sinks into the polymer chain. It means the core of your preform hits the right temperature without you having to burn the outer skin to get it there. No headaches during install We made these as simple drop-in replacements. You won’t have to rewire your system or worry about tripping breakers because we matched the OEM footprint and electrical load exactly. We also used high-purity quartz glass. High-speed lines are brutal on equipment with all that rapid thermal cycling, so the glass needs to be tough. And the connectors? We machined them for a tight, snug fit. A loose connection is just a hot spot waiting to happen, and nobody wants to deal with a burnt-out socket mid-shift. A few things to keep in mind Now, there’s a trade-off. To get faster cycle times, we increased the heat density. Pushing more wattage into a smaller tube puts more stress on the quartz. Because of that, you have to keep your reflection chambers clean. If your reflectors get oxidized or dirty, that high-penetration energy just bounces right back into the lamp. It’ll kill the lifespan of the bulb. Keep them shiny, and you’re golden. The bottom line These lamps slide right into the SMF oven. We cut out all the fluff and focused on raw heat and accuracy. When the heat soak is consistent across the whole preform, you stop fighting with your scrap rates and start actually hitting your numbers.
