
Stop Fighting Your SIPA Rotary Oven
If you’ve ever pulled a bottle off the line and seen that annoying pearlescence or a wall that’s way too thin, you know exactly what’s happening. Your infrared power is drifting. When the heat isn’t hitting the preform evenly across the oven, you get hot spots and cold spots. It’s frustrating. You spend half your shift tweaking settings just to keep the quality consistent. The fix is simpler than you’d think: you just need a lamp that actually matches the original power curve. The “Close Enough” Trap Here’s the thing about power matching. A lot of people buy lamps that are “close enough” to the Krones Contiform S specs. But in a high-speed system, “close enough” is where the trouble starts. If the wattage or voltage is off, even by a little, your temperature controllers have to fight the hardware. We handle this by calibrating the filament density. We make sure the heat flux is steady across the entire tube. No gaps. No surprises. Just a smooth, predictable heat. The Nitty-Gritty Stuff We use high-purity quartz glass because these things take a beating. They heat up and cool down fast, and cheap glass just cracks under that kind of stress. Whether you need R7s or Sk15 connectors, we’ve got them. And we don’t cut corners on the plugs. We use materials that can handle high current without pitting or overheating, so you aren’t staring at a melted contact point three months from now. Plus, the halogen cycle inside the tube keeps the filament from thinning out. That means you aren’t climbing a ladder to swap lamps nearly as often. A Quick Word of Advice These lamps put out a ton of heat. That’s great for fast ramp-up times and high-speed PET blowing, but it puts a load on your cooling fans. Check your ventilation. If your fans are clogged with dust or just can’t keep up, your housing is going to bake, and your lamps will burn out way too soon. Keep the air moving. Once your airflow is clear, it’s a simple swap. Plug them in, calibrate your PID, and get back to making bottles.
